What We're Working On
At Watson-Forsberg, we are dedicated to providing high-quality construction projects that positively impact the communities we serve. Our team of seasoned professionals are actively engaged in a diverse range of projects, each designed to adhere to the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and design. Below are a list of projects underway.
Northrup King Building – Minneapolis, MN
The largest adaptive reuse complex of artist studios in Minnesota, the Northrup King Building, will include at least 84 affordable live/work units, 30 to 80% of Area Median Income (AMI) living. The newly renovated building will be comprised of three historic industrial buildings spanning over 13 acres, 3.5 city blocks, and 738,074 SF in gross building area.
Simpson Housing – Minneapolis, MN
The project involves the demolition of an existing structure followed by the construction of new housing and shelter. This five-story, 124-bed development will include parking and a basement, 36 efficiency apartments with kitchens and bathrooms, and group rooms and bathrooms on the second floor. The 66,260 SF construction will feature a post-tension podium with wood-framed walls on top, a commercial kitchen, and geothermal wells, and designed to meet B3 energy requirements.
Union Congregational Church – St. Louis Park, MN
Our team oversaw the abatement of the existing building, moving and disconnecting utilities to demolish a portion of the education wing. We constructed a new wall enclosing the remaining space. The newly remodeled space includes; offices, bathrooms, a coffee island, and a gathering space for parishioners. A LULA lift was added for ADA access to the lower level of the building.
Union Park Flats – St. Louis Park, MN
Adjacent to Union Congregational Church, Watson-Forsberg constructed Union Park Flats Apartments. The 60 affordable apartments will serve the community. Careful coordination between the church remodeling and the new construction of the apartments was needed to allow the church to be open during construction. Our team communicated regularly with the adjacent property owners to address construction concerns and their property access while the alley was unavailable for the duration of the project. An alley serving neighboring homes was rebuilt, allowing for the new stormwater retention system. The construction is on schedule and within budget, thanks in part to our trade partners’ detailed scheduling and coordination.
